About One Smart Sheep

We build the systems businesses actually run on.

One Smart Sheep is an AI implementation agency in Maryland. We work with professional services firms and growing businesses to replace manual work with systems that run on their own, from first audit through to what is live in production.

How We Got Here

We were a marketing agency
until the work changed.

One Smart Sheep was founded in 2019 doing search and web work, mostly for law firms and local businesses. That work went well, and it put us inside a lot of operations.

What we kept seeing had nothing to do with marketing. Firms were winning more clients and then drowning in the administrative weight of serving them. Intake handled by hand. Scheduling handled by hand. The same information typed into three systems by three different people. Every client we helped grow eventually hit the same wall.

So we started building the systems to fix it, first as one-off requests, then as most of what we did. By 2026 the automation work was the business and the marketing work was the smaller half.

We did not pivot toward AI because it was the trend. We pivoted because our clients kept asking for it before we offered it.

I'm in the room before anything gets scoped.

I am Zee Ahmed, and I run One Smart Sheep.

Before starting this company in 2019, I spent years inside agencies and private firms, building websites and systems for other people's clients. That is where I learned the thing that shaped how I run this business. The technical work was rarely the hard part. What made projects succeed or fail was whether anyone actually understood the business they were building for.

So I started a firm where that understanding is the job. Every engagement begins with a conversation I am part of, because the decisions that determine whether a project works get made before anyone writes a line of code.

What keeps me in this work is that it sits at the intersection of the two things I find most interesting: technology that is genuinely new, and people running real businesses with real problems. I like the part where something that took a person four hours a day stops taking any time at all. That never gets old.

I am also a relentless optimist about it. There is no failure in this work, only feedback. Every system that does not behave the way we expected tells us something we did not know about the business, and the next version is better for it.

How We Work

Five things we hold to.

  1. 01

We tell you when something is not worth doing

Not every process should be automated. If a project will not pay for itself, we say so before you spend money on it.

  2. 02

    Fixed scope, agreed up front

You know what is being built, what it costs, and when it is done before work starts. Change orders are documented, not slipped into an invoice.

  3. 03

You talk to the people building it

Questions about your project go to the team that designed and built it. No account managers translating requirements back and forth, no waiting on someone to relay an answer.

  4. 04

    We document what we build

You get written reference for every system, so your team or any other developer can maintain it. Staying with us should be a choice.

  5. 05

    No overpromising

We would rather scope a smaller engagement that works than a larger one that disappoints. The relationships that last are the ones where the first project delivered exactly what was described.
